Merhaba to Cairo Mr. Gul

Mr. Abdullah Gul is the first foreign president to visit Egypt after the revolution , he visited Cairo last Thursday and his visit was full of important meetings.
President Gul and Field Marshal Tantawy
An army translator between them
He first met with field marshal Tantawy where they held talks , Gul expressed his wish to share the Turkish experience in democracy especially with the army. Of course our army is different from the Turkish army and its control on life in Turkey but still it is good to share and see other’s people experiences as we can learn from their mistakes. The Turkish president was optimistic and he assured to the whole world the our military junta are aware well enough of what we want in this revolution. I hope the talks included future plans of military exercise with Turkey.
Later at the Turkish embassy in Giza Gul met with Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei , Dr. Amr Moussa , representatives of Muslim brotherhood who are so proud of the AKP and Wafd party leader Siyad El-Badawy. “Yes Siyad El-Badawy Confused smile“

Gul aslo met with a delegation of the revolution youth from different political groups.
With ElBaradei
With Amr Moussa
With Siyad El-Badawy and MBs
 I love the carpet
The youth with Turkish president and FM
Turkish ambassador can be seen in the photo too
President Gul has issued a presidential decree to cancel visa between Egypt and Turkey , we do not need visa to visit Turkey anymore and Turks do not need visa to visit Egypt anymore. This move is great for our economy and our tourism especially now. FYI Turkey has promising investments in Egypt since the Mubarak era.
Despite having a good start for economic relations with Turkey , the Mubarak regime as a weak one did not like the return of Turkey to the Islamic Arabic world as all the people agreed that Turkey was actually replacing Egypt’s place thanks to the Mubarak. The Mubarak’s media kept attacking Turkey especially after the AKP’s success in the elections which showed to the west that there is no need to be afraid from Islamists , Turkey was the new enemy for the Mubarak’s regime along with Qatar , Syria and Iran.
I would like to remind with what once a Bloomberg analyst said during the early days of revolution Egypt can have a strong economy , in fact can be an economic power like Turkey in the regime after couple of years if we have managed to have a democratic regime.
I want to thank the people of Turkey who stood with us during the revolution , this means so much for us.

Thank you for the blog. I was searching for news/information on the Turkish President Mr.Abdullah Gul's sudden visits to Egypt. Last Summer when the turkish flotilla was attacked and 9 Turks were killed, with the consideration of other developments in the region such as removal of the visas and economic/trade partnerships between Turkey and Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, I have said in many website that Egypt's Mubarak regime was going to fallen as the next. I will not get into why and how of it now. The nations of the region know well that in the leadership of Turkey, its tremendous experience with the European nations for centuries; and especially, since the World War II, democratic developments, it's secularist/militarist regime's clash with the Islamic oriented parties-most recently, AKP, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict must be solved first anf foremost but it doesn't seem possible through direct approaches-sitting with Israeli/Zionist movement down and convincing them for just solution and ending the occupation...

In my opinion, Turkish leaders want to corner Israel while they build economic/trade partnerships and no-visa travels within the muslim nations in the region thus sort of creating economic/trade difficulty and limitations for Israel anyone dealing with Israel. This will eventually force Israel to compromise or left alone with no neighbors or partners (unlike at the time of Mubarak's Egypt and King Hussein's Jordan, Mahmud Abbas' West Bank)and feel less and less secure. Moreover, Turkey is highly advanced nation in techonology; the largest trade revenues of Turkey is through sales of products produced by its corporations in technological an automotive sectors. Turkey has its own built satellite and probably the longest fiber optic connection web not only in Europe and in the World with Telekom. Turkey begun building its own military weapons including tanks, warships, sophisticated guided light and heavy weight weaponary systems, spy planes with no pilot with more advanced technology than the Israelis just put on use, and builds the majority of the most recent USA warplanes f35, and has been building other F versions for decades. Putting all these in use and sharing the technology with the neighboring nations to Israel, Israel has no choice but to compromise and withdraw from occupied territories. Hamas stopped responding back to Israel although Israel keep hitting Hamas targets at times. This is because Turkish AKP is respresenting Hamas interest becoming Hamas voice in the international arena while advising them the best moves politically.

Now, President of Turkey is in Egypt, convincing the military that democratic path will bring nothing but peace and propsperity to Egypt. Muslim Brotherhood is not a treat but rather the way to moderate extremes in a democratic system as long as the military provided fair ground for all parties in a democratic regime. For decades, Turks were forced to believe the parties like AKP and its predecessors was going to create Iran or Afghanistan style governments. Today, Turkey is at a democratic stage which has never seen in its history before. Islamic oriented AKP has tripled Turkish GDP only in the last eight years since they have been in power. The inflation that has been over 100% for decades is now at 10% but it has the highest economic growth among European nations and one of the highest in the world for 8 years. Turkey's GDP is also higher than all the arab nations combined. With no oil, no natural gas while importing almost all it needs from other nations, Turkey's export is over $135billion. Thus, my bortherly advise to you do not believe the news that Muslim Brotherhood is a staunch Islamic party that will bring Sharia to Egypt. Today there are more practising muslims than ever before because people are now proud of what and who they are rather than being forced to degrade Islamic values under the corrupt secularist regimes similar to Mubarak's regime.

There are more democracy in Turkey under AKP rule than ever before, they are the favorite to win a 3rd four year term in June 2011 national elections expecting to win more than 50% of the popular vote. The liberals are favoring them over secularists not only conservative voters. So do not believe what MB might do as long as democratic principles are in place which will take time, noone can force Egyptians to live under strict rules that they may not want. You have shown it just recently with your uprising and you can do it again if the leaders go out of your way.

My feeling is if today you have an election MB will come as the one of the top parties if not the winner with around 23%. I don't think any egyptian parties are going to win the majority but that's how it starts, e little coalitian governments till the things put in place. Be patient, God be with you. Peace from the USA

  7. Libya is Iraq 2 in stealth. The Libyan people are sleep walking into disowning their country just like the Iraqi's were trapped to hate each other through Saddam, fantastic scenario, soon, very soon Libya and its resources will no longer belong to Libyans, you can deny all you want, but it will happen as the army is too week to make a difference, and the protestors are too week to win. What a stitch up, so guess who is laughing right now.
